This project is being run as charity institutions and the resources vary depending on the number and Quality of the cattle, land availability, their organizations and finances.

Gaushala which means home for cows which is also meant to rescue, shelter, feed, protect, treat and rehabilitate the sick, weak, homeless cattle and handicapped.  There are over five thousand Gaushalas in India with over six lakh cows maintained for over hefty amount of annual maintaining cost.

The five aim of a Gaushala are.

  • The cattle must be free from hunger and thirst and must be able to get fresh water and a proper diet to maintain strong and full health,
  • The cattle must be offered with the comfortable environment which also includes resting and shelter area.
  • Freedom from injury, pain and diseases by providing instant diagnosis and treatment
  • Freedom to express normal behavior by offering the right space, facilities and company of its own kind.
  • Freedom from distress and fear by making sure the treatments and conditions, which steer clear of mental suffering.

The project is carried out all over Tamilnadu in all 37 districts,

The project aims for

  • Housing facilities – Gaushalas are set to rescue cattle that has been illegally sent for slaughtering or abandoned. This includes building Gaushala facilities considering various climatic conditions.
  • Machinery and Equipment – Which are very essential like the crush, chute and trevis for restraining cattle. Some of the modern machines are being used for handling, restraining and treatment.
  • Management of Gaushala – The Gaushalas are being managed with an art of uniting ideas, facilities, processes, labour and material for the well-being of the cattle in an economical way.
  • Rescue protocols – Accommodation for abandoned, abused, neglected and sick cattle are offered comfortable accommodation and offered best possible care.
